What benefits can you get from relaxing techniques?

One of the surest ways to attain an increased well-being is by practicing relaxing techniques. Other advantages include reduced anxiety; decreased heart rate, respiration rate, blood pressure, muscle tension; decreased metabolic rate and oxygen uptake. It is recommended that one should have at least 20 to 30 minutes daily relaxation. The following are some extra benefits.

•    You cannot catch a cold easily

Did you know that stress can double your chances of catching a cold? Immune cells responsible for fighting inflammation are made less sensitive by stress. This, therefore, increases the risk of getting the cold.

•    Your memory is boosted

Numerous studies show that stress increases production of certain proteins in the brain. These proteins are linked to Alzheimer’s disease. Research has shown that stress impairs the center of the brain that is responsible for learning and memory, thus causing memory lapse.

•    Stroke risks are lowered

A recent study revealed that middle and upper-class men who had work-related stress had a 10% prevalence of suffering from a stroke. Therefore, one needs to relax and indulge in good physical exercise like jogging, cycling, or swimming. One should also avoid smoking.

•    One is safe from depression

Relaxing techniques are useful to get rid of stress. Stress is known to kill brain cells and even inhibit new ones from being formed. According to a study, stress can cause lack of pleasure, hopelessness, lack of appetite, and sadness.

•    It eases acne

Stress increases the oil production in the skin, which in turn clogs the skin pores, and eventually, the skin can develop acne. Other skin conditions like psoriasis can also be traced to stress.
